Hi All!
The 15th District Spring Convention went very well with many units in attendance. It takes a lot of hard work to host a Convention and many thanks go out to all those who helped with this big event. Thanks also to Pharr Post #101 for letting us use their facilities for our Auxiliary meetings. American Legion families helping each other--that's what we're all about. We are happy to hear Donna Post #107 will be hosting the Fall Convention. Even though it was a lot of hard work hosting the last two conventions, we were proud and honored to do it for our District Commander, Noe Alvarado, and our District President, Teresa Simmons Copeland, who are our own #37 members.
Congratulations to Ed Beatty, Legionnaire member of our Post, who won the Easter bonnet lottery tickets raffle. Says he had a lot of fun scratching but sure didn't win a million.
The slate of new Officers was read at our April meeting and Election of Officers will be held at our May 12th meeting. We are still in need of a Secretary, Historian and Executive Committee member. If you're interested in holding one of these positions please be at the meeting so we can nominate you at that time.
Memorial Day, Monday May 28th, we will have a bake sale in conjunction with the Legionnaire's chicken bar-b-cue. Your delicious baked goodies will again be appreciated. Have them at the Post by noon on that day.
We will be presenting $1000.00 scholarships to three senior girls from McAllen High, Memorial and Nikki Rowe schools on May 21st at 2:00pm. during their awards ceremony. We will also be sending 6 high school girls from McAllen High and Memorial to Girl's State in June.
Wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day. There will be a ham dinner prepared and served by the SAL at the Post Sunday, May 13th, at 12:30pm.
Executive Meeting will be Monday, May 7th, at 6:30pm. General Meeting will be Saturday, May 12th, at 10:30am. Hope to see you there.
God Bless Our Veterans and Troops and God Bless
